Programming Help

[Final Sabre]

Hi everybody.

My friends and I are trying to get into game development and learn to program as we go.  The only problem is we don't know where to start.  We're looking to make a turn-based strategy game like CW/CB.  I was wondering if someone could maybe be a tutor and give some pointers or assistance.

Also, I was wondering what language CB was made in.  Java I'm guessing.  And is it hosted on it's own server or web hosting?

- it is on own server (it's imposible to run such thing on shared hosting, they would have to rent you a whole computer)
