There is a game very similar to tic-tac-toe, with one important difference: the goal is to get 5 (and not 3) marks in a row. Of course it is also played on bigger board than 3x3 (preferably of unlimited size)

I'm not sure how popular is this game elsewhere, but in the country where I live it is extremely popular. During my school days it was important part of many breaks (and also boring lectures)
Unlike classical tic-tac-toe this game is VERY challenging, addictive and fun to play.

First question: have you ever played such game? Is it popular in your country?

Second question: I know that  this game has an english name, I guess I saw it somewhere once, but I don't remember. I browsed internet a bit, but did not find it. Do you know  correct english name of this game?

I'd like to make this game for Duel Board. It should be very easy and I hope people would like it.

Connect 4 is 7x6 & you have to connect 4, but can only drop from the top.

That's probably the most recognised version.

Think I've played the 5in a row one somewhere b4

are you talking about 'Go'?

No no no :) The game I mean has EXACTLY same rules as tic-tac-toe, with only difference: you have to get 5 marks in row.

There was a game with those rules for the ancient BBC computers, called Gomoku.
