Harry Potter isn't all that great. I read the first five and then stopped.
It's not a high enough reading level.

Maybe not, but the way that it is written really draws you in to the story. I really felt emotional after the death of Dumbledore because I was drawn in that much, more emotional than the deaths of Steve Irwin and Paul Hunter...

I also read:

Artemis Fowl
Bartimaeus Trilogy
Shadowmancer, Wormwood, Tersias

and some others...

Never heard of any of them.

I've read 11 books of the Wheel of Time series, the twelth and last book isn't out yet, I've read earthsea, the Belgariad, and currently I'm reading a lot of Dragonlance books. I'm on about the 17th book so far. Read some other stuff as well.
